okay, I am told that removing the tin plating is a very bad idea. under high heat conditions the bare copper or brass (whatever it is) will oxidize very quickly. fortunately these aren't really expensive tubes. I'll just replace them. I also bent the pins. these tubes are fubar. Live and learn. I should have practiced all this on disposable tubes.
