Questions about tubes and gear that glows. FAQ

RE: A Citation V Chronicle, Big thanks - Mikey S. and Jim M.

The tongsols are still burning in, but, they sound more forward than the original 7581 RCAs that I had in there, which kind of had a laid back presentation. They feel a tad more compressed and bit edgy but realize the amp and tubes are still needing some burn in.

They sound great and this amp always had a tight and fast attack, the tungsols bring those qualities up a notch. It's a real "rock n rollers" amp especially with those tubes.

As far as the hum you spoke of, are you able to determine if it is "signal" or "power" that is causing the hum? Mikey told me to short the inputs and power the amp up, if your hum goes away or reduced, it's a signal problem, if it still persists it's most likely a power problem...

good luck!

J
