What kind of gain stage and phase inverter tubes are you running? Changing these may help the issue, more than the power tubes.

BTW: if you are happy with the gain stage and phasse inverter tubes, I find that the 1990's vintage JJ E34L has a warmer midrange response. You need to bias the amp slightly hotter for this tube versus the Svetlana EL34 (15-20% hotter).
