RE: JJ E34L vs Mullard EL34 (Reissue) vs SED EL34

The general thinking about the JJE34L is absolutely true. I have the first Phillips 1970s attempt at a Mullard Xf2 "reissue" . These Phillips tubes they sound better than the Mullard 1960s Xf1s to my ears. Beleive it or not a fine ready to go burned in quad of XF1s lost to a set of JJ E34L Blue Glass in an Audio Group shootout.
I had using the JJ Blue glass E34L religiously until I heard two Russian output tubes. I thought the Russian products never sounded very good at all being a big mid range devotee. The tube that I now prefer in my current amps at any rate in every way, turns out to be an Electro Harmonics fat bottle style 6CA7.
I also took out a bunch Sovteks (pretty much toast on life support) out of my brand new but used Jadis DA60. I knew it can use KT-88s so I had Jim match up an octet of the Gold Lion reissues. They are doing an incredibly good job but obviously not all amps are as flexible.
It seems no one is sure about the Mullard reissues you have and I have no wisdom to impart.
I do have a very good set of Svetlanas which are to my ears very nice. However they tend towards being little lightwieght for my taste.
I plan on replacing the 6CA7s with only 6CA7s unless the Gold lion KT-77 behaves less like the fourth of July JJs. One of these Roman Candles melted a ?Teflon socket, took out a resistor and I forget what else. It did this when virtually new just arced and blew.
I heard they also misbehave in the monoblocks I currently have (and really like). This info I got from that company's former distributor and old pal. They are Opera Consonance. Mine are one of their best efforts Cyber 800 Monos (at landed cost they are unreal but I submit they sound great IMHO at any price).
If I can find the remaining 3 JJ KT-77s and crispy Sovteks they are free + actual shipping to the first e-mail. Some of the goods mentioned can be wrestled away for a fee. I will put them up in the classifieds for you.
