Tubes Asylum Questions about tubes and gear that glows. FAQ |
|
I have heard some talk about people replacing the 6H30 tubes in BAT preamps and CD players with 6N6P tubes. Is the 6N6P a (safe) direct replacement for the 6H30 in the BAT se circuits? Are any of you using the 6N6P in BAT preamps or CD players with success?
A reference can be found at:

In the referenced article there is discussion about potential differences in heater current values that could be a problem, and I wonder whether the heater current is already higher in the BAT se circuits (specifically VK-51se and VD-D5se) because of their using the 6H30 tube. I ask the question because the 6N6P is inexpensive compared to the 6H30, and those few who report using it say it sounds better in their opinion. Thanks.
