I watched this seller's listings for these re-issue Tung Sol 6550s, and also for re-issue Gold Lion KT88s. From the closing prices of these listings, it does seem to me that the buyers thought/think they're buying vintage tubes - or, they just like paying much more than they have to for these items. I was hoping to pick up these re-issue tubes at a good price.
Indicating them as re-issues would have been prudent. This information isn't particularly obscure, but must-know, top-level description. The absence of this information in these listings does seem to point to bad-faith dealing.
Do you think the people who bought these know what they bought, even after they receive it? It's easy for some to see what these are, but many surely don't know. I've seen Chinese KT88s and 6550s branded Amperex by Richardson go for far more than you'd expect to pay for these tubes. My first guess is that someone thinks that "Amperex" made these tubes. That's right, a Heerlen-, Blackburn-, Hamburg-, Hicksville-, etc.-made KT88 or 6550? Cool ;)
