If you want forwardness in the midrange nothing can compete with the very late 1960's and early 1970's Amperex A-frame 6DJ8/ECC88 tubes manufactured in Heerlen, Holland.

The very best would be the the GAE revision ones having the large PQ shield emblem followed by those having the smaller world globe logo. There is no other ECC88/6DJ8, E88CC/6922 or E188CC/7308 tube which comes close with the sweet midrange of this series of tubes.
