hmmm...before turning the amp off I did push down on one of the tubes and the noise breifly went away, so I guess poor pin to socket contact could be it. I'll try cleaning the pins and see if that helps.

I've had a GT12AX7M make an intermittent low-level popping noise in the past and this sound is nothing like that, and yes, it is awfully strange that both tubes would go microphonic at the same time. I'm just confused as to why these particular tubes would suddenly became noisy; I popped some NOS Teslas in and bingo, no more noise.
