Poking around my tubes the other day, I came across some old NOS GE 12AY7's that have a total box plate - no wings, just a shiny black rectangular, with 2 ribs, box. Long D - getter. There is a wrapper around the box from the Hughes Aircraft Co, Div of Hughes Tool. Packaged in 1953.
I don't see too much on AY7's for HiFi. Are these worth their salt, or relegated to the guitar amp crowd?
