1959. December.The second digit of the code corresponds to the last digit in the year of production. After 1960, the code increased to four digits, i.e. B9L1, where 9 would mean 1969 (or 1979), L stands for December (L being the twelfth letter in the alphabet, and December being the twelfth month of the year), and 1 corresponding to the first week of the month.
Before 1960, Mullard did not indicate which week of the year the tube was made.
