Re: How much of a short is a "bad"

When performing the calibration on a Cardmatic tester, the short lamps are adjusted so that 1 megohms of leakage lights the appropriate lamp, and 2 megohms will not. However, there is a "Sensitive Grid Shorts" button that is calibrated so that 10 megohms will light the lamp and 20 megohms will not.

The manual states that if the tube being tested is being used in an audio circuit then the sensitive shorts test should be used. That seems to imply that if a tube has 10 megohms or less of control grid leakage it should not be used in a critical audio circuit.
