THe SED el34s and the JJ kt77s are unquestionably superb...The Groove tubes reissue 6CA7 is very good to but expensive.
The best old production el34s are the true 5 staple telefunkens or the Amperex made in holland dual rect getter el34s IMHO.I can stomach an xf1 mullard but beyond that I have always found them to be rather mushy..Thats why I think the seds and kt77 jjs take the front seat to most xf2s and later.
Someone mentioned the EH 6ca7..Those are very good also and they give nice personna to the marantz 8b.
You really have a lot of choices but it depends what kind of amp and speakers you are using before you choose the best tube..What amp are you using?
