Tubes Asylum Questions about tubes and gear that glows. FAQ |
|
HI,I recently bought a Chineese tube amp with 4X KT88 tubes, it's a defunct brand "Allegro". I have searched extensively for an owners manual and cannot seem to find one anywhere.
The amp works but seem to run hot and it seems to be burning through tubes like no tomorrow. In fact it has newer tubes and they are already getting a purple glow.
Underneath the amp, nestled amoungst the point to point wiring are 4 pots (the only adjustments on the amp), they feed pin number 5 on the KT88's. As I turn and adjust the pots the VDC on pin 5 goes fron 20-100+. I cannot figure out where that voltage should be? Is that the bias adjustment? Should I be checking Ohms somewhere? Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks,
John
