Smart-ass answer aside, I think the maximum plate dissipation doesn't depend on the mode the tube is being run in. However, another concern is screen current. You may need a resistor or other device to limit the screen current. The curves should show you whether you need to worry about that or not.I like EL-34s. I'd like to hear how they sound as triodes.
