Several people have commented to me that the 6C33C power tube destroys its sockets. One version of the story is that the destruction happens over time because the tube runs so hot. The other version is that the tube takes the socket with it when it blows. Just this weekend I was at an audio shop looking at BAT 6C33C amplifiers, and another visitor to the store made the same comment. Is this an urban legend or is it a fact that's supported by reliable statistical data?
