The "failures" aren't acute like open filaments, arc'ing, etc. Rather, the tubes simply don't last as long when measured by their gm. I've sampled enough 5692 myself and have heard enough (admittedly anecdotal) experiences about this to formulate what I believe is a valid trend. This seems to occur on GTA, BAT, Supratek, Millet/Wheatfield, et al.
