From an electrical perspective, except for the filament voltage, the 2A3 and 6A3 are identical. NOS RCA tubes will sound good.The "Catch 22" with the 6A3 is hum control. Higher filament voltage types are more vulnerable to hum than their lower voltage brethren. A way to deal with hum is to use DC for the filament supply. DC filament supplies have their own issues. Scan the archives for additional info.
A good way to employ 6A3s is in a push/pull amp with AC filaments. There is cancellation of the hum in the O/P trafo.
