Hi Robert,
Your beer budget of $240 for tubes is way beyond mine! That's actually a handsome chunk of change to drop on a set of preamp tubes. For the record, the Cayin's stock EH tubes are really well regarded for new-production tubes (low noise and microphonics and a balanced sound). I like 'em, but I'm no expert, either. The Mullards are probably better, but I'm not sure they're 6X better (as reflected in the price differential) Your $ might be better spent on a quad of NOS EL34's, although the primo Mullards EL34's are VERY expensive these days. Great choice on the Cayin, BTW.
