Tubes Asylum Questions about tubes and gear that glows. FAQ |
|
I thought that I would try to get any comments on this disturbing (to me anyway) developent. One of my new production Western Electric 300B tube amps has started to emit a slight whistling noise from one channel noticable from my very sensitive horn speakers. The noise is audible from my listening location, though the music is fine. I did all of the usual tests of switching the 300Bs across channels and into a different amp. The noise always follows the the tube. The noise comes in pulses and is usually, but not always present. The tubes have about 800-1000 hours on them and have always been operated within specs. Any comments appreciated.
