Thanks for the feedback, didint want to give the impression that I was considering any drastic action cause I havent heard the TS round plates ;-) Actually, I have bought a few pairs of the 76 triodes, for my next linestage project, supposed to be a good alternative to the 6SN7 family. For what its worth here is my list of 6SN7GT in order of preference
Kenrad VT-231/6SN7GT black glass staggered plates - great bass and sound stage
Sylvania VT-231 - great emotion, bit more refined than the KR but you lose some staging and bass
Raytheon VT-231 Paralell plate - very neutral, but great air, fantastic mid range, but just dosent have the warm sound of the KR
AWV VT-231 (Australian made) - similar to the Raytheons
Raytheon 6SN7WGT - Great tubes
Sylvania 6SN7WGT - Actually a great tube for the price - havent been able to afford the 6SN7W, anyone want to comment how better they are ?
TS 6SN7GTB - For the price you cant beat these
EH6SN7GTB - Does everthing right, just doent have the presence and sound stage of the above tubes
Does anyone have the Gold pin version of the EH6SN7, are they noticably beter than the normal, at $19.99 a pair I am considering checking these out
Sylvania & Raytheon 6SN7GTBs - Good for background listening and when the TVB/DVD is playing (saves wearing out the VT-231s)
Havent bothered buying any other 6SN7GTBs as the VT-231 just sound so much better
Sovtek and Golden Dragon 6SN7GTB - really notice the how bad these tubes are when compared to all of the aboveCheers Frasier
