Need help identifying 12AX7 please (pic)

Greetings- sorry for the crummy pic but hopefully it will help somewhat.I'm hoping that this might be a Mullard as it has an etched code at the bottom of the envelope that reads "2A1 G3F". The 2A1 is on one line and what appears to be a "G" lying on its belly ,followed by 3F, is right underneath that. The grey plates are smooth (no ribs), and are approximately 17 mm tall. GT. BRITAIN is also printed on the glass at the same height as ECC83 12AX7.Round halo getter.Any ideas what this is and when or where it was maufactured? Also- what is the symbol called that somewhat resembles the letter "G" lying on its belly? Thanks very much, wpod
