I don't use tube coolers because of their tendency, in my estimation, to trap heat: quite the opposite of their intended effect. I have found that removing a tubed component from its housing or case, allowing for sufficient space above it, and running a quiet fan over the output tubes, in particular, and the transformers keeps them reasonably cool. All the people I've spoken with about these practices - including Roger Russell - agree it is a reasonable way to lower the operating temperatures. This prolongs transformer life and helps to prevent tubes from becoming gassy.
