I know of 2 Defy 7s that were in a local shop for repair, but couldn't be fixed since Jadis wouldn't send a schematic or parts. (nice attitude!) Their resale value is low due to this unreliability, at least with that unit, from what I have seen.In contrast, ASL is very accessible (Joeseph Lau, the designer, posts here regularly), and I never had problems with the ASL 1006's I have.
IMHO, the 211/845 gives up nothing to lower-powered DHTs. In fact, it sounds better/bigger/stronger but with just as much detail and delicacy. A lot depends on other components, power supply, OPTs, etc.
the ASL's are a bargain, esp. on the used market.
