>>> Anyone who frequents Soundstage's Tube forum knows that Fred does not *push* anything<<<
funny, i've frequneted it since its creation, tho i don't post there any more- an pop in less frequently now.
>>>
As for having limited stock, that only applies to the NOS tubes that Jack loves so much. He carries Tesla, EI, Svetlana, etc.<<<
Yes, the run of the mill stuff-nothing wrong with that if thats what you want. I'm a bit more choosey with my tubes, and they are less common, then the 9-pin mini-usual suspects.
>>> I find it interesting that he would go so far as to state that Fred's "taste tends to be
on the lean/cool side of reality" when Jack has never even heard Fred's system<<<
I go by his recomendations, unless you are implying that he gives them totally at random without any experience to base them on. The very fact that he listens to ARC pretty much shows he like things on the lean/cool side. pehaps silvery would be a better word. but i guess that doesn't count-since he has a SET. Which one? I guess all SETs sound the same-warm and mushy?
So, how the hell did he turn it into a connie-J? If you think tube swapping is all it takes to turn an ARC into a Connie-J, you are a bigger fool than i previously thought. I recognize a sales hype when I see it. I have nothing against Fred(except he didn't know what a coin base was), I'm just trying to warn people that ALL recomendations , including mine, are biased-at least I get no financial gain out of it.
Its good to know tube swapping is all one need to change brands of amps.
BWAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!
enjoy,
