Deciding on 1st tube amp - comments please

146.74.1.99

I've been wanting to move up to a tube amp for about a year. I can't stop thinking about it and I want to make a decision soon. My decision basically comes to this - do I restore a vintage amp (Fisher X-100) or buy a new one (Cayin TA-30). I've heard excellent things about the Fisher's musicality and the Cayin is getting excellent reviews too. The Cayin is in my price range and I'm expecting to pay around $500 or less for a comple Fisher restoration.

I already have the Fisher X-100, cost was free. Physically excellent, all knobs, Fisher branded tubes, very clean. Not sure if it's working since I've never plugged it in. No walnut cabinet. If I get this retored I'm not sure if I'll get something better sounding than the Cayin. I kind of like the idea of having something new but I also want something that is easy to maintain(is that possible?).
Will be using the amp with Heresy I's, so both amps are plenty powerful enough. My CD Player is an older Marantz 63mkII. No vinyl. Tuner is a Sansui TU-717. Your excellent ideas and suggestions are requested. Thanks for your consideration.
