Does anybody use a modified phono preamp as tape head preamp?

Firstly I have to introduce my status quo:

I own 3 Revox G36 by now and hundreds of prerecorded 2-, 4-tracks, 3.5 and 7.5 ips reels in IEC and NAB equalisations. From the Revox-built-in amps only the prepre stages are used, from where the signal goes into my excellent Croft Epoche Elite preamp.

The problem I am not overcoming is that the Revox-tape head preamp section itself is well built, but the noises of the 3 motors are audible in the listening signal, what makes me crazy.

The Croft preamp is split into a phono section and a following preamp'line'section. Because I am also a LP-collector with early monos, Columbias, 78s I started the project to add further equalisations to the phono section. So I am adding 4 additional small circuits parallel to the existing RIAA equalisation circuit. These consists of some resistors and caps. Proper values are easily found at circuits from old preamps.

I am pretty sure that a modified Croft phonopreamp will give better results than the tape head preamp built in the G36 itself.

It should be an easy task to add further circuits to the phono section for the equalisations of NAB, IEC for the different speeds and tone heads. Also the installation of the right load for the Revox tone heads (as for MM-cartridges) should be no problem. But some has to know the right values and arrangmement for these circuits and the right load for the tape heads.

I welcome comments, experiences and ideas. Has anybody transformed already a good phono preamp into a tape head preamp?

Thanks
Peter
