Questions about tubes and gear that glows. FAQ

Don't be silly.

When you get to the end of a roll of toilet paper, you'll find a tube at the centre; this is to heat the paper so it's nice to the touch.

It's not always publicised but if perchance you should have your attention diverted whilst wiping that certain part of your anatomy, it is possible to burn ones buttocks with aforementioned tube, and the veritable 300B can cause quite serious blisters on both cheeks not to mention the fingers.

However, the tubes in relation to the poster's question are those which form the reflex-ports - usually made from plastic and of course, prone to igniting as a result because plastic is less than ideal for surrounding an element carrying such high voltages.
The name 'reflex-port' is actually derived from the twitch audiophiles develop through constant scares with igniting plastic.

I thought you were quite knowledgeable before displaying such ignorance Robert?

Best Regards,
Chris Redmond.
