Re: 6AR6/Triode Input Board/MIT-RTX/max build

Hey Chris,
With that power suply, you are well into the outer reaches of AB1 with the 6098's plate dissipation of 23 W. The 3D21 in A and B variants only has a 15 W plate rating. The WA and WB are another story, I suspect about 35 W for those variants. And then there is the 7403...Fatbottle is right, the 12E1 is a possible sub for a 6550 app, just watch the ratings overages. The 12E1 is fairly conservatively rated for its voltage maxima.

The real kicker for that set of Iron and power tubes would be a choke input. Get the B+ a few tens of volts above what the input tubes would need and use the Dyna's little choke and a small R to de-couple them. And of course, I can't believe that you crammed the whole thing under the itsy-bitsy Mk.III chassis.

On the input tubes, you could also use the far cheaper 6BQ7 instead of the 6DJ8. The MIT caps are fantastic, I got a pair off of my local builder bud, complete with his house brand in the 1 uF, 600 V flavor with tin foil plates and they sound brilliant. They are as big as 500 V .1 uF Russian TFE's though.
regards,
Douglas
