Re: Energy C6

I didn't own the Energy C6. But FWIW, I did own the Energy C4.

To me, the C4 is pretty typical for a Canadian speaker: midbass hump, neutral midrange and treble, fairly wide dispersion, good imaging and soundstage, good detail: an overall sonic bargain for the price. Unlike some Canadian speakers, the C4 didn't seem to have a laid back upper mid/lower treble region.

The cabinets of my speakers seemed to be fairly solidly constructed. Knocking on the parts of the front baffle and side panels closest to the drivers produced dull thuds. The other parts of the cabinet dind't sound quite as dull, but they still didn't sound very resonnant.

The exterior finish of my C4s was subpar compared to other speakers of similar price: the glossy, fake wood finish looked like the type of unconvincing, fake wood trim you can find in some midprice cars, and there was a tiny amount of flash left on the (molded plastic?) front baffles of both speakers.

Assuming that the C6s you're interested are in mint condition, $400/pr seems to be a good deal, but I wouldn't rule out used PSB Image or Paradigm Monitor series speakers.
