Mini-Review of Axiom Audio M2ti

148.87.1.170

I recently submitted a review for AudioReview on the Axiom Audio M2ti loudspeaker that I have recently bought. However it appears that that review was censured and deleted. I have been curious at the lack of reviews for some products and possibly that is why. This has greatly reduced my fate in the Audio Review Site as being a relatively unbiased and spontaneous source of reviews.

One thing I did was give it a low score even though my remarks were not all that negative.

I was basically bothered that the sound from the M2ti was so radically different from my MGD (Michael Green Designs) 50i monitor speakers that I compared it to (speakers costing about twice as much). The Axiom loudspeaker was bright and light-weight by comparison.

On the positive side I liked the M2ti's since they seem to have such a clear and undistorted upper-midrange. I thought that they are great for basically good quality mid-fi equipment pairing since they can sound exciting with mostly lackluster and boring electronics.

I am currently using them with a salvation army late-70s vintage JVC receiver and I like them. Tried them with the Classe CAP-100 that I have and I didn't quite care for their tonal balance.

I like their whole box construction without much plastic and the fact that they were video shielded, all for $180 new. (I claim to hear the plastic in speaker construction.) They were also the right size for my application. I had also planned a foray into home theather with these, but now I am having my doubts about the brightness factor. I was considering getting a VP100 or VP50 as well. The VP100 has an upgraded tweeter which I suspect might help in the brightness category.

This review wasn't all negative you see. I gave it a 2. Upon reflection I should have given it a 3 or a 4 since for the price and their video shielding and their lack of plastic construction, they are probably better than average.
