Re: Is Celestion A1 better than SL6Si.

I owned the SL-6Si for several years and was very happy with them. I traded them (plus $300 cash) in on a used pair of Thiel CS2's, which give me more bass and a more open sound. However, the primary reason I traded the Celestions was that stand-mounted speakers presented a danger to small children, otherwise I would probably still happily own the Celestions, although I do like the Thiel's better. I heard the A1's at a hi-fi shop on a couple of occasions and got the impression that they were a bit more open sounding (less mid-bass and lower midrange) than the SL-6Si, but not necessarily better. For the money, I wouldn't hesitate to buy the SL-6Si. For either speaker good stands are necessary.
