General speaker questions for audio and home theater.

Re: Question for greg

I currently use a LFD Mistral SE integrated and some no-name cheapie stands (when I don't shamefully plop the little guys on a deep shelf/mantle) in a fairly small room, Nordost Solar Wind bi-wire speaker cables, cardas cross interconnects. I've heard them on other systems with an Anthem 2s or an Bryston b-60 amp, and better stands and more expensive cables. Mine sounds slightly richer, but maybe less detailed, but the stands are usually too close to the back wall (most rear-ported speakers need not apply) for best openness, a limiting factor for sure. The stereo lives around my family; I don't live around my stereo. I can't compare them to the Reynaud twins, which other folks say are very good indeed. I have compared them directly to older model LS3/5a's, which I once owned. Personally, I like the 3/5s slightly better. They also seem to be more forgiving of poor placement, and really do seem to disappear.
