I used to own a variety of Proacs...going back to Paul Heath Audio's first pair more than twenty five years ago! In fact, he may have been the first importer of Proac. They were a revelation, amazing...the best big dynamic speaker I ever heard. Paul then started a company to produce a speaker to beat the big and expensive Proacs. He called the company...Merlin. Even his first Merlins, probably voiced against the Proac and using similar drivers (?) bested the Proacs...easily. Now, in its latest iteration the Merlin is probably the best sub $10K speaker in the US...period. Maybe the best under $20K...especially if Wilson Audio would be considered its primary competition. The problem with the Merlins is that they are a true audiophile speaker and not at their best (like Wilsons) when paired with poor electronics.
