Dynaudio, until the last few years, hasn't marketed their speakers all that strongly in the U.S. Their presence had been more focused on the driver market, rather than finished speakers. Even with their new emphasis on finished speakers, their dealer network is still fairly small. I wouldn't infer anything, positive or negative, about the quality of a speaker brand based on whether it has 20 or 200 dealers. Some people might even prefer the "snob appeal" of a less mass-marketed brand. They are a major player in Europe, and I think its safe to say they'll be around for awhile. If you like the Paradigm Reference speakers, you might not find the Dynaudio Audience speakers to your liking. They sound quite different from one another. I prefer the more relaxed top end of the Dynaudios and find their mid-range much more refined and detailed than that of the Paradigm Reference, but that's just my opinion. The Paradigms probably beat the Audience speakers in dynamics and, possibly, bass impact. If you do check out the Audience line, I think the bookshelf models, the 42 and 52, are the true standouts of the line and are excellent values despite their relatively high price / size ratio.
I would second the recommendation to call Steve H. at Sound Video, he may be able to give you a somewhat better price, too. Also, some dealers are giving good discounts on the older 40 and 50 models, which differ only slightly from the newer 42 and 52.
