Re: Anyone heard or owned the Paragon Jubilee/JEM

i have used these as my primary system for about 5 years. the jubilee's are 2 way ported speakers using dynaudio speakers. the jems are the woofers which cross in at 400hz and also use dynaudio speakers and they are ported. they replaced quad el63's. they are very neutral and give up very little in reproduction of detail and transparency (vs quad) and have greater dynamic range (i.e. quads are somewhat compressed) and ability to handle higher volume. they are a very easy load, i.e. 5 to 6 ohms but are low on sensitivity, i.e. 86db. tube amps with 100 watts +/- will work very well. i use both a mesa baron and a sonic frontiers. basically, these speakers will give you what you want to hear from upstream sources. i compare these speakers to the dynaudio contour 3.3 but believe they have better bass, and i think they image a bit better. they really do disappear when properly set up. they only down side to them is if you blow a speaker you can't call paragon, you have to search for a dynaudio speaker from another source. at the time i purchased these i considered verity parsifals. i couldn't afford them. i think that these speakers were one one the best bargains of the 90's.
