I'm not familiar with the Puccini amp, only his operas. I wouldn't think the set up as you describe will work all that well. Have you investigated replacing the amp/crossover with a new one from Audire, Meniscus, or Parts Express? Better yet, consider a subwoofer kit from one of these sources. You may be able to get as good or better of a deal and significantly better performance.
