I am currently using running an Audio Analogue Puccini amp into Ryan Acoustics MCL-1B monitors. Was considering getting a sub to get that extra low bass extension. Found a great deal on a PSB SubSonic II on AudiogoN. BUT, the sub's amp does not work, so I wanted to use it as a passive sub (owner and dealer both say that this should work fine using the line-level input [can't use the speaker terminals]). Apparently, I should also be able to manually set the crossover too (as long as I use the line in's).My question is... the Puccini is an integrated amp, and the owner's manual says that it might be used to supply signals to a POWERED/ACTIVE sub. Will this set up work? More importantly, how will it sound? I don't need a lot of bass, just a little more extension than I am getting out of monitor size speakers. I am planning to go out of the pre-outs, into the line in's on the PSB, and set the crossover accordingly. Any advice/recommendations/comments would be GREATLY appreciated.
Thanks,
EHA
