I started the prep on refoaming a pair of Infinity RS 3000's, but when I removed the dust cap to shim between the voice coil and the spider, I found what seems to be a flat, black plastic plug over the voice coil - almost like a secondary dust cover. Any ideas how to center the foam surround for optimum sound without shimming? Or can the black plug be removed? Thanks.
