Speakers to match Arcam Alpha 7R Amplifier

Has anybody any good speaker recommendations to match Arcam Alpha 7R amplifier.
I am looking for a smallish pair of speakers. I listen to classical, rock, folk, blues, so recommendations need to be good allrounders.
Currently using KEF Coda 3 speakers (circa 1984). These are probably a bit too smooth and warm for the Arcam, and the bass can sound a bit muddy and thuddy. They only sound exciting when the volume is really cranked up - which is a bit anti-social in a terraced house.
The room size is 16x12 feet with 8 feet high ceilings, so not tiny but not exactly hude either.
