Thanks, Ninja. You're right, they are superb. Since my original post, I have talked to the dealer who sold them. I also have a sales flyer.

The LM250's were made from '85 to '89. Synthesis ceased production in '93.

They were designed by David Fokos with Conrad and Johnson. My brochure shows a trapezoidal monitor speaker, plus the LM200, LM250 and LM250D floor-standers. Your LM210's must be an upgrade of the LM200. None of them had a subwoofer. The 250D is the same as the 250, but with added wood cabinetry on the back and top.

I have now connected them and they kick ass over my previous speakers, $400-500 range consumer grade bookshelf and subwoofer/system speakers. The clarity of the instruments and voices is remarkable. For the first time I reallize that on one particular song, Elvis Costello has three backup singers, one on his right and two on his left. I can distinguish all three voices. Remarkable.

The dealer said these were a very refined speaker, excellent for the original price. He said they would be good for classical and acoustic music in particular. Not for hip-hop and very bass-heavy stuff. That suits me. I tried them first on the Buena Vista Social Club, then into Elvis Costello, John Hyatt, Buddy Guy, Rodney Crowell, Keb Mo', and Lyle Lovett. EVERYTHING sounds so good, even my wife remarked on how good Buddy Guy's voice sounds. And his electic guitar sings better than he does. I feel like I finally found that garage sale treasure I've been looking for all my life.

I moved all my stereo equipment to work around these speakers. Tonight I will re-balance the turntable. I can't wait to hear these speakers play vinyl!

I need to re-cover them. The original cloth is a little tatty, and it's cream colored. Not that attractive. No problem.

And to think I bought them because they looked like a decent pair of speakers for the basement workshop.

Thanks for your reply.

Ted
