Re: Infinity servo Statics 1-A's

Boy does that take me back! I fisrt heard these in a shop near Yale University in New Haven, CT. I went in to listen to the Dynaco A-25's with a copy of Orff's Carmina Burana (Philidelphia Orch)under my arm. The magazines had gone GA-GA over the A-25. Shop owner played them for me with carmina Burana. "What's that" he said, obviously fascinated. I told him about it and he then said let's try it on these. Yep! The Servo Static 1's. Wow! I was stunned. The record had a lot of powerful bass content, but I had never really heard it, even though I had used it as a speaker audition record for about 12 years by then. Nothing I had ever heard came even close to the impact of the bass. I can still remember it clearly, over 30 years ago.

You could probably recreate the bass part by using either a Velodyne 18" servo sub, or the Paradigm 15" servo, and then try to integrate a modern electrostatic of similar physical configuration with an active crossover and a good power amp for the top end with maybe a parametric EQ to get the voicing right. Probably wouldn't be any harder than getting an original up and running.
