The statement "Low frequency bass is produced by the subwoofer "not" the receiver" is misleading. Of course, the receiver produces the lows and the circuitry in the subwoofer separates them for its use while passing the rest of the spectrum to the L and R speakers. Hey, if the receiver produced no low frequency bass, the subwoofer would be unnecessary.
