Based on your list of likes,I would strongly recommend either a used pair of Vandersteen 2Ce or the Maggie 12s, again used. These are both bulletproof and offer exceptional sound for the bucks. You should be able to find a set of either in near mint for about $700. I've owned both a couple of times and these have been my favorite speakers to listen to in many ways over many years. I've owned a lot of more expensive speakers also. In fact right now I'm using a pair of maggie 12s that I took apart and rebuilt and they are just so much fun to listen to.Another point. The maggies and Vandersteens are both floor standers - will your room work with that arrangement?
