Home Speaker Asylum

General speaker questions for audio and home theater.

Besides Totem, what works well with Sim Audio amps?

I WANT MORE BASS! Ok, now that I've got that out of my system, I'll ask my question. I'm interested in trying out different speakers in my system. I have a Sim Audio I-5 integrated amp that is rated at 70W @ 8 Ohms and currently have them hooked up to a pair of Avance Epsilon 910 speakers (pretty rare in the US at least, find them at http://www.avance-international.com/) which are rated at 86db and 4 Ohm and stated to go down to 54Hz. I'm looking for a "bigger" sound compared to what I have now. I'm missing the bass foundation that I have heard when listening to other speakers (in past two days have listened to Sonus Faber Concertos, Grand Pianos, and Maggie 1.6's...but not in my system). Also, I stated other than Totem because I know Totem speakers work well with Sim products, but unsure of other brands.

I've entertained the idea of getting a sub, but because I listen to music exclusively, I would need a fast and accurate sub (usually not cheap). I do however like the midrange of the Epsilon's, but I know there are speakers that are more extended in the highs. I am on a tight budget, but hope to have a few hundred dollars to work with by December. I would definitely need to stay in the <$1000 range. I'm just wondering if anyone can lead me in the right direction of a pair of speakers that would mate well with my Sim amp and that have more bass authority (still needs to be accurate) and fits in the above price range. If you think I should just keep what I have now, could you recommend a good sub that I can seamlessly blend into my system? ACI's Titan sub looks great (never heard it), but it is more than I can afford and are not often on the used market. Maybe one of ACI's lower-end subs? Thanks for any advice you can provide.
