I think I can answer this... I used to own a pair of original Totem Model 1s. The 4 ohm load should not be a problem provided you can rewire the output transformers to 4 ohms. What is a greater concern is the inefficiency of the Model 1s. I tried to run them with a Sonic Frontiers SFS-40 (40 watts per channel, tubes). The mids and highs were amazing and voices sounded so natural they were scary. But, there was not much bass. I switched to a Bryston 3B-ST and the bass came back, with no audible degradation to the mids and highs.

The Totem Model 1 is an amazing speaker, but you need a fairly "real" amp to realize their potential.
