While I have a solid state amp, I prefer the sound of the Maggies with tubes. Your Maggies DO NOT require alot of power. They need an amp capable of easily driving a 4 ohm load, so a better transformer will give you more confident bass. The liquidity of tubes matches very well with the very revealing, open, and detailed mid-range. I would not match Magnepans with bright, etched-sounding amp.
