Not in any way to spoil your ecstasy with the Harbeth and BC, the way you describe the sound reminds me of a Dalquist speakers I heard (was it the DQ 10 I can't recall)a decade or more ago. At first hearing, they sounded very even handed, neutral, and uncompromising. But after a while, the distance (my ears and the soundstage) became somewhat uninvolving.

Incidentally, an audio friend asked me to help him position his SP 1/2Es. Out of the box, they sounded georgeous driven with by an all Naim system. I haven't asked, but do spendors need breaking in? How much space should I leave from speakers to back wall? Room is like 25 ft L x 20 ft W x 10 ft H.

You sounded so convincingly enamored with the Harbeth 40's and BC 8000 combo. Will this be the system you'll marry?

Thanks for the tip on the SP 1/2's position.

James
