Check out Michael C. Barnes' post below about the availability of the 6.5s.Assuming you can still get them, my setup is with the 6.5s in the long corners of my rather small room. Additionally, they're sitting on the floor, aiming up at about 50 degrees. Very sub-optimal, I know. ;)
However, I've managed to extract VERY good sound from them by building four Jon Risch wall panels and putting two on each side around the speakers. I also plugged the ports with some plastic bags which resulted in tightening up the bass (making it more tuneful). The speakers' bass benefit from being in the corners of my room so the roll-off is counteracted, and I dare say the bass is amazingly good.
I'm not saying the speakers are perfect, but compared to the rest of the speaker market they're worth much more than the $700 I paid for them.
