Dented Dome

If it sounds ok, then it IS ok. Dented domes are common, especially in hifi stores. Other than causing a very slight change in the radiating pattern, which you won't notice, it's not an issue.

Regarding the support message, a manufacturer HAS to advise the best possible remedy (replace the driver) or risk being "called out" for giving questionable advice. It's a reputation protection thingy.
