connect the EQ in the preamp tape loop or between pre and power amp. Then disconnect the tweeter and shape the EQ as desired. Not really important. Then disconnect the woofer and reconnect the tweeter. Now the EQ settings are important. Put all frequencies below say 3K at the min and be careful with the volume. Knowing the exact model and its crossover point would help. You can only damage the tweeter really. No real need to remove HF from the woofer it wont reproduce it.
